Martindale SJ, Rev CC
Classic life of the great Jesuit missionary saint
This classic biography, first published in 1936, of one of the greatest saints of the Catholic Church, and written by one of Englands best Catholic authors, is reissued to mark the 500th anniversary of the birth of St Francis Xavier. Francis had, like all of us, to wrestle with his nature to achieve goodness and holiness; it was the raw material God had given him. Meeting Ignatius of Loyola at the University of Paris changed his life from one of earthly ambition to go into the world to preach the Gospel, against the most formidable obstacles.
The booklet has been updated by Fr Anthony Symondson SJ who has also provided a short introduction.
