At a time when more people are migrating than ever before, this document represents an ecclesial response to the pastoral needs of migrants and a call to the whole Church for a new impetus of mission and evangelization.
This instruction, issued by the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant Peoples, deals with difficult questions such as the relations between Christians and the large numbers of Muslim migrants, and in particular looks at marriages between Catholics and non-Christian migrants.
The document also contains juridical-pastoral regulations relating to the provision of diligent pastoral care since “in migrants the Church has always contemplated the image of Christ who said, “I was a stranger and you made me welcome”.
