The Churchs mission to migrants is rooted in Gods love for humanity and for people on the move. Time and again, the scriptures describe Gods presence with, and call to, migrants. Indeed, we need look no further than the Holy Family. At the very beginning of the Gospel of Matthew, Mary and Joseph are uprooted three times from their community: first they travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem for the census, then they flee to Egypt because Herod wants to kill their newborn son, Jesus, and finally they return when the danger is past. Mission of the Church to migrants in England and Wales recognises the need to nurture a welcoming community of faith and fellowship that unites in worship and prayer.
