November 2010 finally saw the dedication of Antoni Gaudí’s famous and still unfinished Basilica in Barcelona. Pope Benedict declared that the Basilica unified 'that inspiration which came to Gaudi from the three books which nourished him as man, believer and architect: Nature, Scripture and the Liturgy'. Benedict's penetrating reflections on Gaudí (1852-1926) and his 'evangelisation through stones and beauty' are set out here. Benedict’s meditation on the Christian's pilgrim life, while at the world famous shrine of Santiago de Compostela, is also included.
