Two recent BBC programmes, The Convent and The Monastery, raised enormous interest in the religious life as lived out by monks and nuns today:- lives of prayer, contemplation, community, work, and in a real way, being ‘apart’ from the world. Does such a life have any place or value in today’s world? Written by one of the Poor Clare sisters who took part in the documentary, this booklet answers that and many other questions with great clarity. If Christ is at the centre of our lives, whatever our calling, then our mission is to love and serve the world, humanity and those around us.
