Redford, John
Explains the relations between the gospels and Judaism
In February 2004, protests intensified against the public release of Mel Gibson's film 'The Passion of the Christ', claiming it bred anti-Semitism. The film mainly presents the Gospel version of Jesus' death, thus to say the film is anti-Semitic is to suggest the Gospels are too. The well known writer, theologian and scripture scholar, John Redford, takes this accusation head on, and answers each of its elements, including the famous 'blood curse' cited in Matthew's Gospel. Fr Redford is Director of Divinity at the Maryvale Institute, and is preparing a book defending Christ's divinity: 'Bad, Mad or God'.
