A Teaching Document of the Bishop's Conferences of England and Wales, and of Scotland
Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales, and of Scotland
Observations on Scripture by the British bishops
Forty years ago the Second Vatican Council promulgated one of its greatest documents, the Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation, popularly known as Dei Verbum. The document has had a great impact within the Catholic Church and beyond. The Bishops of England and Wales, and of Scotland, have now prepared a new teaching document, The Gift of Scripture, in which the teaching of Dei Verbum and subsequent Church documents is explained. What the Catholic Church has to say about the Holy Scriptures builds on ancient insights as well as utilising modern understandings. This document is offered to Catholics, to other Christians, and to all who value the gift of Scripture, so that we may be more richly nourished at the table of Gods word.
